The 2011 Hall of Honor Inductees have been announced.  They are Alvin S. Okami, from the Class of 1962 and Kenji Sumida from the Class of 1949.

Okami is probably best known for his ‘ukulele company, KoAloha Ukulele.  KoAloha receives orders from all over the world and is used by Herb Ohta Jr,  Daniel Ho, Gordon Mark and Roy Sakuma, to name a few musicians who use a KoAloha ‘ukulele.  But he also is a singer, musician, inventor, designer and craftsman.  Okami also generously supports the McKinley Alumni Association, the Greater Los Angeles Chapter, Project Graduation and his own class activities.

Sumida is best known for his career at the University of Hawaii-Manoa, where he started as an Institutional Analyst and retired as Vice-Chancellor for Administration.  After his retirement from UHM, Sumida went to the East West Center as Executive Vice-President, interim president and finally President.  Sumida was also a brigadier general and commander of the Air National Guard; past Chairman and current board member of the University of Hawaii Federal Credit Union; and serves on various other community group boards.
